Volunteers play a very important role in making the Blue Nose International Marathon such a major success, year after year. Halifax is proud to have the best volunteers in Canada, and our down-home sense of hospitality and friendship is no exception.

For 2008, we are anticipating a need for 1,000+ volunteers to ensure we deliver another class event in true Halifax and Maritime style. We're delighted to report that the home operating base for all Race Weekend is the WTCC and Halifax Metro Centre.

Blue noses-and hands-needed!

It's hard to believe amongst the thousands of hours of hard work that
go into bringing the Blue Nose International Marathon to fruition, there
are only a handful of paid staff members. Yes, folks, the Blue Nose
Marathon is a volunteer-driven show!

Here are five great reasons why you should come out-and bring a
friend-to volunteer at the 5th Annual Blue Nose Marathon:

1) You know that great feeling that comes with helping a friend or
loved one? Now multiply it by 8,000! With an estimated 8,000 people
participating in the Blue Nose Marathon race weekend, reward yourself by
helping each and every participant reach their respective goals. It
feels great to be part of something bigger than yourself.

2) Help foster a sense of community which supports active living and a
healthy lifestyle. Community isn't just the Blue Nose Marathon,
community is your office pals, your hockey team, your scout troop or
church group-community is all those people you bring with you to help
out!

3) You don't need to run. Not everyone is ready or willing to push
themselves over 42-kilometres of asphalt. But maybe you're willing to
push yourself to hand out a few cups of water to thirsty runners.

4) Blue Nose Marathon t-shirts. Yes, you get an easily identifiable
Blue Nose Marathon volunteer t-shirt. Did I mention they're all the
rage on the runways of Milan?
