Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run
Saturday May 19, 2012
Myles invites you to be a part of the largest youth run in Canada!
In 2011, over 3200 uber-excited kids took part in the 8th annual Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run, making the Youth Run the single largest event in the entire Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon line-up. Myles wants even more children and young athletes on the road with him this year to Giv’er. Will you be there on May 19th?
Take a look at the 2011 Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run highlight video.
The Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run is 4.2 kilometres and open to anyone 15 years of age and under. The event is not timed and a walk-run approach is featured and encouraged. Parents are welcome to run with their kids and Myles is often crossing the finish line with toddlers and teens alike.
Kids’ Run Club
Many of Myles’ young runners begin training for the Youth Run through the Doctors Nova
Scotia Kids’ Run Club. The Kids' Run Club is a free, school-based running program designed to get children and youth active. Now in its eight year, the Kids’ Run Club aims to educate children about the importance of leading a physically active and healthy life while giving them an opportunity to be active through running. Its goal is to instil the importance of regular physical activity in children so they form habits that become part of their everyday lives as adults.
More than 15,500 kids from 215 schools across the province participated in 2010-11. School groups run together one to three times a week.
