How to be a good Spectator!

WORDS TO CHEER

 

The top 11 words of encouragement that marathoners would like to have whooped and hollered on race day.

1. "GIV'ER"

2. "You Rock!"

3. "You GO, GIRL!" or "You GO, MAN!"

4. "Party in Halifax!"

5. "Way to RUN!" or "Way to WHEEL!"

6. "Lookin' Strong!"

7. "Awesome!"

8. "You Can Do It"

HOST A PARTY

Thinking about hosting a Marathon party on race day? If so, the following is a list of the top 11 "must haves" for a fun and exciting get-together.

 

1. Lawn and patio decorations including: signs, banners, balloons, pink flamingos and pinwheels.

2. Fun and upbeat music including: 96.5FM.

3. Musical instruments including: drums, harmonica, bagpipes, electric guitar and saxophone.

4. Noisemakers including: blow horns, kazoos, whistles, party favors.

5. Create a theme for your guests. For example celebrate the 80's (with 80's music like 96.5FM and 80's clothing).

6. If it's a hot day, splash it up with a sprinkler, garden hose or kiddy pool.

7. Have guest bring their favorite party drink. You could even occasionally tease the participants for a taste.

8. Invite fun, cheerful and encouraging guests with lots of ENERGY, ENERGY, ENERGY.

9. Create a team party cheer to hoot and holler to the runners as they run by.

10. Coordinate a team wave.

11. Food, Food, Food.
