Community Relations
The 7th annual Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon will be held on Saturday, May 22 and Sunday, May 23, 2010. In true Blue Nose style, this year's race routes cover Halifax and Dartmouth, showcasing the landmarks and communities that make our City so great.
As a resident along the route, we want you to be updated on the logistics and timing of the event so that you can plan your weekend with no surprises.
Look for your neighbourhood or area in the list below to find out more about what you can expect. We encourage you to use the information provided to plan for alternative travel routes if required.
There are lots of ways to get involved and be a part of the action on race weekend. Come out and lend a hand, cheer on the runners or lace up your sneakers and Giv'er!
Downtown Halifax
All race routes for Saturday and Sunday events start and finish in the downtown core near the Town Clock adjacent to the Halifax Metro Centre on Brunswick Street. As a result, Brunswick Street (between Duke Street and Sackville Street) will be closed from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm on Saturday May 22 and from 5.30am - 6:00 pm on Sunday May 23. Due to the closure of Brunswick Street there will be limited access to side streets in the surrounding area and traffic flow will be managed by staffed barriers and members of the Halifax Regional Police force.
South End Halifax
The Scotiabank Full Marathon and Volkswagen Half Marathon routes will pass through the south end of Halifax on Sunday. The race routes will travel along Inglis Street to Young Avenue and toward Point Pleasant Park. Runners will pass through Point Pleasant Park and exit, running back up Young Avenue and travelling up South Park Street.
North End Halifax & Hydrostone
The north end of Halifax will be a hub of activity on race weekend, with all race events passing through the area.
Dartmouth & Surrounding Area
This year, both the Scotiabank Full Marathon and The Chronicle Herald 10k Race will cross the Macdonald Bridge and head into Dartmouth. As a result, the Macdonald Bridge will be closed on Sunday morning.
