So here we are in my third week of training for the half marathon, I have just recovered from a sinus infection which set me back about 5 days and yesterday would have been my third day back at it. The biggest struggle thus far has definately been the weather....I am not an experianced runner, therfore getting the guts up to get out there in the snow and rain is not a natural instinct. So off to the warm gym I go. Starting on this journey three weeks ago running on a treadmill for anymore than 15 minutes was a real task, and my first outside run I was about 4 k in on 10 and 1 and I had to call my husband to come and pick me up, so now three weeks later I'm running a comfortable 6-7 K and running about 45 minutes on the treadmil. So I'm seeing results...YIPPEEE!!! SOme changes in my diet have been pretty simple: White to Whole grain everything...rice,pasta, and bread, lots of water, skim milk, becel margarine, and I have cut back on the ranch dressing and pizza, and hey its working. I'm also doing some weight training, a little yoga and some spin classes...I'm pumped!!!

Well I have to apologize for not blogging on a regular basis, but there was a family crisis that prevented me from training and keeping up with my comittment, however on my return I jumped right back in the saddle with heavy training with some nice results. I started back training around the 5th of April where I found myself struggling with the Kilometers once again. The past three weeks I have climbed back up to about 40 k a week, last week I was so pleased with the progress which included a 14 K run...it felt great for the first time. My eating is still not great, but that has always been my downfall, I am never good at planning my meals in advance, but I have increased my water intake to about 2-3 litres a day. The changes in my body so far have been quite rewarding...I have shed about 10 lbs and about 2 sizes, the plus side to running as well is the lack of effort in preparing to get out there, when going to the gym there is the whole packing your bag and making sure you have everything, well running its throw your clothes and your runners and your off to the races. Today was a great start to my week with a 16.5 K run, and a great barbeque for supper. With the weather working in our favor these days it has been great running...sun in your face...and the road at your feet...sweet!!!!
