The Chronicle Herald 10K route will begin at 9.10am in downtown Halifax at the START LINE, located near the corner of Prince and Brunswick Street adjacent to the Halifax Metro Centre and the historic Town Clock located on Citadel Hill.

From the start, proceed along Brunswick Street, turn right (west) on Sackville Street, around the base of Citadel Hill by turning right on Bell Road and right again on Ahern Avenue, passing by the new Citadel High School until reaching the corner of Ahern and Cogswell.

• Turn right (east) for two blocks on Cogswell Street.

• Turn left (north) onto Maynard Street.

• The route will then continue on Maynard to Bloomfield Street.

• Turn right on Bloomfield taking you to Gottingen Street.

• Turn right on Gottingen, proceeding south to North Street.

• Turn left on North and proceed across the Macdonald Bridge.

• On the bridge (4 km mark), you will have an outstanding view of Halifax Harbour, the DND Naval Dockyard, the skylines of downtown Dartmouth, Halifax and the Bedford Basin.

Once in Dartmouth, you will head straight up Nantucket Avenue, staying on the left hand side of the coned race course, across Victoria Road and then on to School Street.

• At the top of School you will turn left on Slayter Street (staying on the left side) for a few of blocks to the end of the driveway at #72 Slayter.

• Circle back, again staying to the left, on Slayter to a right turn on Nantucket (stay to the left) and head toward the Macdonald Bridge to return to Halifax.

Once you reach the Halifax side of the bridge you'll then turn left (south) on Brunswick Street and run through one of Halifax's oldest and most historic neighbourhoods, back to the Town Clock and the FINISH LINE. Approaching the finish line, listen as the race announcer calls out your name. Very cool.

SPECIAL NOTICE

In the Halifax north end, please pay special attention to Course Marshals' instruction to complete the all-important RIGHT TURN at Bloomfield.

In the Dartmouth portion, participants are encouraged to stay on the left side of the race course at all times where noted above. This will minimize 'cross over' situations at key intersections.

Please watch for Route signage and follow Course Marshals' instructions.
