MYLES Media Memo - May 12, 2006

8 days until race weekend!

With training intensifying and only 8 days until the Blue Nose Race weekend, excitement is building. We'll be sending along updates on a regular basis to keep you informed of Blue Nose news as the weekend approaches.

Areas of Interest:

The "People's Marathon": This race has welcomed runners of every skill level. Hundreds of first time runners have signed up for this annual event and they all have interesting stories to tell.

  • Steve Drummond - Steve is back running the full marathon this year after he was sent to the hospital by ambulance with hypothermia during last year's Blue Nose Marathon. He's back despite the bad weather last year and is definitely hoping for some great weather.
  • Dave Young - Dave has been busy training for the Blue Nose Marathon and is using the Marathon as a training run for the upcoming Ironman Canada. Steve is excited to be part of the Blue Nose and is hoping for a great time.
  • Peter & Leslie Henderson - Peter works hard and the Blue Nose is a chance for the couple to spend time together and train together. Peter and Leslie will run in half marathon. They have been training all year round. This will be their 3rd Blue Nose. They also coach a running club for kids at Willow St. School. This year 30 students in grades 3 to 5 will be in Halifax participating in the Doctors NS youth run. Leslie and Peter will cheer on students and participate on Saturday.
  • For more interesting stories contact Dave Denny at 463-0905 or via cell at 497-0905.
