Mayor Kelly signs up for Blue Nose Marathon

Halifax, NS - The Blue Nose International Marathon is proud to announce that Mayor Peter Kelly has signed joined Team Myles and was named the honourary team captain.
Team Myles is a special group of individuals who represent each of the six race elements offered on Blue Nose Race Weekend. Team Myles members have encouraged and motivated everyday people to adopt a healthier lifestyle by sharing their experiences during their training period on www.BlueNoseMarathon.com. Each member of Team Myles has their own story and reflects the range of people who join in the fun and excitement of Blue Nose Weekend, scheduled for May 19 - 21, 2006.
Mayor Kelly, along with being the captain of Team Myles, will be running in the Chronicle Herald 10K. "I am pleased to be leading a team of committed runners and walkers," says Mayor Kelly. "The Blue Nose International Marathon is a very special event for Halifax Regional Municipality. The marathon highlights the beauty of our city and motivates people to get out and live a healthy, active lifestyle."
Gerry Walsh, Blue Nose co-chair, is excited to have Mayor Kelly participate as a member of Team Myles. "We thank Mayor Kelly for his support and look forward to seeing him on race day," says Walsh. "The Blue Nose is great event for the city and many people can participate in a variety of ways. People of all shapes, sizes and ages can walk or run any of our races."
Rod McCulloch, Blue Nose co-chair, emphasizes additional ways people can get involved. "Blue Nose weekend is all about our community. If you don't walk or run any of the events, we encourage volunteering for any role or coming out to cheer along the course," he says. "The weekend promises to be a fun event for everyone involved."
The Blue Nose International Marathon is the people"s marathon - with diversity to encourage and challenge participants at all levels -- first timers and seasoned marathoners. The Blue Nose International Marathon is set for May 19 - 21, 2006 (Victoria Day Weekend) and is presented by Scotiabank. The weekend's events include: the Full Marathon, the Volkswagen Half Marathon, the Chronicle Herald 10k, the Rogers Wireless 5k Run/Walk, the Head Shoppe Team Relay and the Doctors Nova Scotia Youth Run.
